MAC Matte Lipstick- MEHR : Review/FOTD

Hey all,

Today I'm going to share with you a wonderful lip color that had me craving for it for  a long long time. The MAC Matte Lipstick in MEHR was originally released as a part of MAC's Mickey Contractor Collection in 2010 which is when I was a MAC Virgin and didn't know much about the brand or its Limited Edition stuff.

I was once searching for neutral pinks from MAC and came across swatches and reviews of MEHR , and I so regretted missing out on it. MAC recently relaunched this particular lipstick as a part of their permanent collection (and they named the collection as Middle Eastern Lipsticks or as MAC SA's say Indian Lipsticks Collection) and I grabbed it with both hands pretty soon after that.

MAC Mehr  (INR 990/3 g)  is a medium dirty blue pink shade and is a matte finish lipstick. Although its a "Dirty Pink" shade, because of the blue tones ,instead of yellow, it does not make my skin look sallow. It has the MAC signature Vanilla Fragrance. The lipstick is soft in texture and applied opaque in a single coat (I still put two!!) . The thing with this lipstick is if you apply too much of it, it accentuates the lip lines which may look terrible, so you have to be careful with that.

The lipstick has a wear time of about 5 hours (a little less when topped with a gloss)on me and does not flake or become patchy. The formula of this is slightly different from the other mattes I have from MAC, just a tad drier, but not really dry. On my NC 42 skin, it looks best when topped with a gloss(which takes care of the drying part as well!!), and is my perfect companion for a true dark smokey eye look. I must mention here that without dark eyes, it may look a bit pale for some complexions. That you'll have to figure out for yourself when you try this.

If you are looking for a neutral pink from MAC, this one is a must try , though I would have preferred it to be a bit creamier.

Overall, a great shade across all skin tones and a must have neutral shade.

Have a great day everyone!!!

    1. I agree Bee..Depending upon one's skin undertone and the lip color, this does look different...But it works for me, especially with Revlon CLB Lip Gloss Sunbaked, its like a perfect partner to this one....Very similar shade....
Btw, I hope to buy Crosswires and/or Impassioned this month..I wish those are in stock....Fingers crossed..

    2. Are MAC lipsticks - the popular shades - difficult to find in MAC stores? I read that you had to make a lot of calls to all the MAC stores just to get the Marlyn Monroe lipsticks...so was wondering if products are out of stock a lot there. I haven't shopped much at MAC when in India, and even here..the few things that I have bought has mostly been online...and I really don't have any idea about how things work there :)

    3. Oh yes, always...the most popular shaes are always OOS(Russian Red, Ruby Woo, Lady Danger, So Chaud, Crosswires, Impassioned etc etc) The Marilyn Monroes Collection had got some Pretty reds, and each store got about 4/5 of each shade so you can imagine the situation.... Demand-Supply rule..lol....
I made desperate phone calls to all Delhi/NCR stores and could find only a couple of these left at a Noida store and asked a friend to pick up one for me..Thank God for that...After that I wanted another, but it was all OOS by then :(

    4. That is just ridiculous! Seems to me like they just want to create an impression of being so difficult to get...after all if the shades are so popular, it cannnnnot be that difficult for a market-savvy company like MAC to not know that people want to buy it and just stock accordingly. I think they just get a few pieces and ensure that it is sold out. Not meaning to trash MAC or anything, considering you are a huge fan, but I see people getting so frustrated about collections going out of stock so fast here too - but at least with limited edition collections I can sort of understand. Crosswires, Impassion, Ruby Woo - all permanent shades na..

    5. Even I can understand about LE stuff, but why they do it for permanent shades is beyond my comprehension.....I hope I can fulfill my MAC lust list this year...I have been to MAC atleast 20 times only to ask for Ruby Woo..But they don't ever have it....But I have recently found a good dupe for Ruby Woo, something that is currently pacifying my desire for that bright red matte lip :)
