The Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine and Sweet Lemon Body Lotions : Review

The Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine Body Lotion (Rs 795/ 250 ml, revised price Rs 895)
The Body Shop Sweet Lemon Whip Body Lotion (Rs 595/250 ml, revised price Rs 795

One skincare product that I solely decide on the parameter of scent are Body Lotions and Butters and I am yet to see a  brand that can beat The Body Shop on that ground. While Body Butters are like a life savior in extreme winters, I love using Body Lotions and Purees in summers.

I am currently using these two Body Lotions from TBS and here are my thoughts on what I exactly feel about them.

The Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine Body Lotion

Product Description:

Escape to India with night jasmine. A skin-softening body lotion infused with Indian Night Jasmine. This seductive, feminine blend of floral and oriental accords was inspired by a moonlit night in a Mughal garden.
• Oriental scent
• Lightweight moisture
• Layer with other Indian Night Jasmine products to build the fragrance

Aqua/Water (Solvent/Diluent), Ethylhexyl Palmitate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Ceteareth-20 (Emulsifier), Glycerin (Humectant), Steareth-2 (Emulsifier), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil/Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil (Emollient), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Caprylyl Glycol (Skin Conditioning Agent), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Butyrospermum Parkii/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) (Skin-Conditioning Agent/Emollient), Dimethicone (Skin Conditioning Agent), Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer (Stabiliser/Viscosity Modifier), Hexyl Cinnamal (Fragrance Ingredient), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Fragrance Ingredient), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Benzyl Salicylate (Fragrance Ingredient), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Hydroxycitronellal (Fragrance Ingredient), Coumarin (Fragrance Ingredient), Nyctanthes Arbor-tristis Flower Extract (Fragrance Ingredient), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), Benzoic Acid (Preservative), Dehydroacetic Acid (Preservative), Ethylhexylglycerin (Skin-Conditioning Agent).

The Body Lotion Comes in a elongated transparent plastic bottle with a pump dispenser that can be twisted to lock and unlock. Simple, fuss-free and hygienic!

The lotion is milky white in color and the consistency of the lotion is very runny. You have to be careful while dispensing it from the bottle as I have had instances of this slipping away from the palms of my hands when I try to take more than a pump at one go.

The Body Lotion feels cool when you apply it on the skin, since it is so watery and light. It does take a little bit of time to properly sink in.

The Body Lotion provides instant relief to dry limbs, and stays as long as you don't wash it off, which is when you see the water turning milky and the lotion gets completely washed away. Post that, my arms again feel dry so I think the moisturization is only superficial. This Body Lotion doesn't exactly penetrate in the deeper layers of skin. The problem with this is since I'm always washing my hands (like about 20-30 times a day!! and more!!), I don't like to apply it right after a bath. At that time, I like using a heavier form of Body Lotion.

This works great as an in-between things kind of moisturizer, like you just apply while working on the computer, or while watching Television or things like that.

The most important aspect that I must mention here is the scent of this one. I was travelling to the southern part of India sometime last month and there you see women adorning their hair with fresh strands of Jasmine flowers everyday and the Jasmine Flower scent kind of caught on to me. That is the reason I picked up this Body Lotion and I absolutely adore the scent. It is so fresh, flowery and feminine. Alas! it doesn't stay on for long. Just about half an hour or so, which is not something I expected of a TBS product.

Overall, the Indian Night Jasmine Body Lotion from the Body Shop India is one of those extremely light Body Lotions that do take care of minor dryness by treating the skin on the topmost layers of the epidermis. The scent is really lovely, but unfortunately it doesn't stay on for long. At that price, I would definitely not recommend this product, except that if you love the scent, maybe you can go for the Perfume Oil or EDT Versions of it!!

The Body Shop Sweet Lemon Whip Body Lotion

Product Description:
This lightweight whipped body lotion contains real lemon seed oil. It hydrates skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth
  • Whipped texture
  • Zesty citrus scent

Aqua, Glycerin, Talc, Citrus Medica Limonum Seed Oil, Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, PEG-100 Stearate, Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil, Corn Starch Modified, Glycine Soja Oil, Myristyl Myristate, Phenoxyethanol, Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol, Pentaerythrityl Distearate, Parfum, Carbomer, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Benzophenone-4, Xanthan Gum, Citral, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Linalool, CI 19140, CI 15985.

This Sweet Lemon Whip Body Lotion from The Body Shop comes in a short and stubby round plastic bottle with a pump dispenser, that can again be twisted to lock and unlock. It looks cute and I love it!

The lotion is slightly lemony yellow in color and is quite dense.
The texture is creamy and it spreads on and sinks in just so easily into the skin. It provides moisturization that lasts up to 4-5 hours and doesn't leave your arms feeling dry and stretchy after washing with water. It makes your skin feel soft and supple and you don't need to slather it that often.

For a Body Lotion, it works absolutely great and the zesty citrus scent invigorates your senses and wakes you up. I had tried the Sweet Lemon Lip Butter previously and I think I have a soft corner for these tangy citrus-y scents (The Satsuma Body Butter and EDT have been my favorites for a while now!!). The Sweet Lemon is such a vibrant scent that also seems to last much longer, around 2 hours on me.

Overall, the Sweet Lemon Whip Body Lotion is an excellent choice when it comes to selecting a Body lotion for summers. It is creamy, but not heavy on the skin, and the moisturization as well as the scent stay for long. Definitely recommended!!
