Of course, when the whole world is going crazy about the new L'Oreal Paris Cannes Collection, especially the Silkissime Eyeliners, how can I not try them and thus, have an opinion of the same.
Now, honey, I really must say that L'Oreal has done a good job at the shade selection of these eyeliners, and has included some really pretty shades like the pure purple, plum and cobalt blue one. Rest are pretty regular shades like a teal, black, gold and silver. I wanted to give these liners a shot and hence picked up the gold one first since that seemed to fare the best in my hand swatch test at the store and also because I really wanted a gold liner for some inner corner highlight and other stuff!
The L'Oreal Paris Silkissime Eyeliners have color coded bodies and a transparent cap. They are of the sharpen-able kinds which I prefer over twist up kinds due to hygiene factors.
The Silkissime Eyeliner in Gold is a nice dull gold shade. It is a nice color to have in your collection if you are fond of eye-makeup. Also, the shade is versatile and can be used in a lot of ways depending upon how creative you can get.
The Silkissime eye-liner really runs smooth on the lids. It has a nice creamy consistency, almost crumbly if you apply too much pressure. It is really rich and silky as L'Oreal describes it to be. Also it is extremely pigmented and one stroke, of the Gold shade in particular, gives enough color on the lids/lashline. A point that I must mention over here is that the eyeliner gets used up really fast, so always keep a sharpener ready!
I do wear contact lenses and it felt a little stingy when applied on the waterline as opposed to the claims on the packaging. For contact lens wearers, I'd suggest not applying the liner on the waterline.
Now, my only concern is with the tall 16-hr claim of the product. The eyeliner looks bright and intense when freshly applied and it sure sets as well, BUT, there is noticeable fading of the color intensity at around 8 hours. Also, this particular shade, gold was quite easy to take off with a regular wet wipe and didn't even need a makeup remover. It may be because of the hot Indian summers also, but then, I was hoping for more.
Overall, the L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Gold is a nice shade of Gold that runs smooth and is creamy to apply without any tug or pull, albeit a little caution is needed when applying on the waterline. It also sets well and doesn't smudge and is easy to take off. It gives a decent wear time of about 8-hr on me. I am not really a fan because I've surely seen better at that price. If you've tried the Faces Longwear eyepencils, or Colorbar i-glides, or even the Bourjois Contour clubbing eyeliners, you would know what I'm trying to say!
